Where is Gullah Gullah

~By Godfrey Khill

Gullah Gullah Island lies just off the coast near Charleston, a place that looks ordinary on the map until you learn to read its songs. Here, in salt-stained marshes and hidden coves, history and magic meet: buried secrets, pirate lore, and the low, steady rhythms of people who kept their stories alive. When a mysterious moving map points the way, a journey home becomes a search for the truths that were waiting under the sand.

Gullah Man

~By Godfrey Khill

Gullah Man is an elder of the coast: part storyteller, part guardian, whose low, knowing voice carries the island’s songs and old instructions. He moves like the tide through memory and myth, guiding (and sometimes testing) those who come searching. When the map points home, it’s Gullah Man who remembers the old names, the buried stories, and the cost of bringing them to light.

Summary

Tameri Rivers, a 14-year-old from Charleston, is unexpectedly “called” when a glowing seashell and a living, moving stitched map mark him as chosen to find and protect a hidden place called Gullah Gullah Island — a mythic locus of his people’s lost history and power.

Tameri is joined by Yahfrey Blaze (a dragon-riding cowboy), Chief Blue Jaguar (a Gullah-Seminole warrior), Captain Ishi “Eel-Eyes” Boone (a repentant pirate), and Root (a trickster, small dragon). They form a chosen band bound by shared destiny.
